Geico Road Race

May 20, 2009

Geico Road RaceThe GEICO Road Race is part of the 2009 Run & See Georgia Grand Prix Series. The primary purpose of the Series is to get runners to travel around the state and participate in quality running events, while at the same time seeing some of the great tourist attractions and cities/towns in our state. At these events the runners will earn points for their age group placing (regardless of the age groups you may use at your race, for points purposes, we recompute the race standings based on 15 age groups beginning at 10 & under and going to 80 & over in 5-year age groups); they will accumulate these points over the year and at year-end there will be the awards ceremony and awards presentation to honor those top 20 points-getters.

All proceeds from the GEICO Road Race benefit Special Olympics Georgia. SOGA’s goal is to help bring persons with intellectual disabilities into the larger society under conditions whereby they are accepted, respected, and given the chance to become useful and productive citizens. When we achieve this goal through our sports program, we demonstrate that Special Olympics has a unique value: to show the world that every person counts and that every person can be something good when we work together.
